Celebrations and traditions



GREATER CELEBRATION.
Sentmenat celebrates Greater Fiesta the last Sunday of August. During three days diverse acts opened to the public become, with dances, great and small spectacles for, diverse and varied games, aids and entertainments.

SAINT MENNA.
The 11 of November the celebration in honor of the patron of the town is celebrated, Saint Menna. This celebration also receives the name of Greater Fiesta of winter, celebrating also the Fiesta of Oldness.

SAINT ANTONI.
Traditionally it was used to celebrate the 17 of January, but at the moment the first Sunday of March is celebrated. After a solemn office the animals bless themselves and the vehicles and one begins marched past by the streets of the town.

BALL DE PLAÇA (PLAZA DANCES).
Said also "Ball de Gitanes", is a dance of much tradition in our town. It is danced during the celebrations of carnabal. The dance consists of diverse groups, formed by different pairs from dancers. The groups or "colles" form according the criteria of ages, from the "colles" of more small to the one of the engageds and of the married.

APLEC DE SARDANES.
The third Sunday of Sentmenat April celebrates its "Aplec de sardanes", as they do the majority of Catalan populations.

LIGHTS OF STREET.
"Els Lums de Carrer" (lights of street) are celebrations that celebrate the grouped streets of the town in districts. During all the month of June, each saturday, a district adorn its streets with little flags, pendants and dolls, and full the balconies of lights. Also they organize different acts and they flatter to the assistants with some type of food. It's a celebration with much popular tradition.
